In these tutorials, I have gained a lot. First of all, in terms of English proficiency, the most obvious improvement is my oral ability. Before this course, I have no confident to communicate with others in English, especially on professional questions. However, I try to use English to explore philosophical problems and express myself. Thus,my own ability to express, my synonymous reporting ability significantly improved,with the accumulation of English professional vocabulary. More importantly, whether I can accurately say what to say, I have more confidence in communication. This is my first harvest.
Second, I have always wanted to avoid Kant's philosophy because it feels difficult for me. However it will inevitably cause difficulties because of the lack of knowledge of Kant's philosophy when I try to study others philosophers. So I want to take this opportunity to read Kant in this course. Without the foundation of Kant's philosophy, it is still difficult to read the whole process. It takes a lot of time to read each time before each tutorial, but it is worthy. It seems that Kant's discussion process became clear, making Kant no longer the concepts summarized in philosophy history books, and vivid. Our course mainly talks about the critique of pure reason and Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, which makes some concepts of Kant clear. In addition, Kant's reading makes me read other philosophers with a comparative perspective to see some of the conceptual differences between the two.
Besides, this course has improved some of my professional abilities. On the one hand, my writing ability have a obvious progress,and can been seen between my first writing and the second writing. After finishing the first one, the professor gave me a clear and specific proposal for the revision of my paper, which could be used directly the second time, so that the structure and ideas of the article suddenly become clear. On the other hand, having reading Kant's words makes me have some basic reading ability and reading philosophy books becomes easier than before.
