Harvard's trip, although the time is short, the actual exchange time is less than a week, but the gains from participating in the project are very rich and profound. The main content of the project is to communicate with Harvard-Yenching Institute and the Fairbank center of Chinese studies on the research of grassroots social organizations in China. At the same time, we also visited several famous libraries of Harvard University and participated in the lectures on The Belt and Road Initiative. Totally speaking, it was an interesting trip.
The content and experience of the project did not shrink due to the short time. The first is to understand the training of Harvard University, especially the training mode of graduate students. It has a strong openness and freedom, and pays more attention to cultivating students' self-learning ability as the main body. For the scholars of humanities and social sciences, especially to cultivate self-learning ability. As a school, quantitative academic output should not be used excessively as a criterion for judging the quality of students. Good ideas and works require time to settle, and waiting is necessary.
Secondly, academic research should be free and happy. Life is the purpose of academic research, not just adjustment. We should engage in seemingly boring academic herbs in a life-giving position, serious and lively, foreign communities, school foundations. The facilities are very sound and there are many participants. It is very different from the lack of domestic infrastructure. In particular, colleges and universities pay too much attention to learning and neglect the students' physique. Then, if you are engaged in academic research, you should make a lot of money, and "take more cold benches" to engage in academic research with a deeper understanding of academic cultivation and life.
Finally, there is misunderstanding and discrimination between countries. China and the United States are countries with strong comprehensive strength and influence in the world. However, there are still relatively strong national misunderstandings in the two countries. We should be alert to the dangers of extreme nationalism. A more objective, fair and rational attitude to deal with state relations.
