During the program, I broad my horizon and get a deeper understanding of how western scholars view public policy. I gained improvement in communicative skills, critical thinking and reading, speaking skills and so on. have to say that I have learned a lot of useful things from the course. What I have learned are not only some text from the book but also some useful skills.
First of all, I have a better understanding of public policies and how it works in society. It is interesting that I enjoy the policies made by the government everyday but I know little about how it works. After taking the course, I can’t say I’m professional about it but at least I know some foundational knowledge.
Secondly, by doing every week’s hand on activity, I’m able to read English papers faster than before. It helps not only my course but also my further work. I have to say it is both a useful and basic skill since my major is social work. I think I can finish assignments quickly after doing a lot of exercises in our course.
Next, by doing our research paper, I have practiced my searching skills and I can make comprehensive analysis better. It helps me finish my presentation even in other courses faster and I do believe it is another useful skill I can use in the future.
Finally, I paid attention to the issue of public policy and development during I study knowledge about it this semester. I began to improve my ability of explaining and arguing since I have a lot of reading to finish.
I have to say that the program is a very useful experience for me and I will use those skills I have learned in the course well in the future.
